Mother
Caspari's Spiritual Journey
Eastern
Influences
Mother Caspari spoke of an eastern master who
had told her that souls of great light were incarnating to help
create a better world. These souls were choosing their mothers.
Mother Caspari was also a student of astrology, particularly Eastern
astrology, and definitely believed in the influence of the Sun
sign on a child. She spoke to me of the trek to the Himalayas
that she had made early on in life. Sitting on top of a monastery
there, a Tibetan Monk handed her a manuscript and told her,
"These
books say that your Jesus was here!" This profoundly moved
her, as she had always contemplated the scripture, "And there
are also many things which Jesus did, the which, if they should
be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could
not contain the books that should be written."
Devotion to Jesus and Mother Mary
Mother Caspari was very devoted to Jesus
and Mother Mary, as was Maria Montessori. During their stay in India,
the two would pray to Mother Mary daily.
Mother
Caspari explained that she felt a very strong soul tie to Elizabeth,
mother of John the Baptist. She said that a new pregnancy reminded
her of when Mary had come to see Elizabeth, and the babe "leaped
in her womb" at the good news.
Mother Caspari believed the eternal principles behind the Montessori
method had actually been developed and practiced by Mary and Elizabeth
for Jesus and John the Baptist. In fact, Maria Montessori wanted
this painting of the Madonna of the Chair by Raphael to be hung
in every Montessori classroom. She told Mother Caspari that in this
painting, child John the Baptist represents the intellect, who prepares
the way for baby Jesus, the Light, the spirit of the child. Mother
Caspari explained to me that Maria Montessori did not want teachers
to stop at the intellect. She wanted them to go to the spirit.
Mother
Caspari liked to pray in French. She studied the scriptures closely
and read the Daily
Word in French or in English every day. She said there was a
group of people in the Unity Church who prayed each day for readers
of the Daily Word and that it was a wonderful thing to receive those
prayers. Once, she joyously described how she healed her foot through
prayer. She had suffered from her feet since childhood and sustained
a difficult foot injury. She put that foot in the sun and make calls
until it was completely healed.
Teachings of the Ascended Masters
Mother Caspari shared with me that one of the
greatest joys of her life was to meet Elizabeth
Clare Prophet and find the teachings of the ascended masters
in 1979. The two became close friends. Mother Caspari gave formal
Montessori training to more than five hundred of Mrs. Prophet's
students, and informally coached many parents, grandparents and
friends of children.
Mother
Caspari shared with Mrs. Prophet her experience in the Himalayas,
which Mrs. Prophet recorded in her book, The Lost Years
of Jesus.
The
Golden Thread
Mother Caspari always strived to practice loving
kindness. Her heart was large enough to love everyone. She always
put others first with true dignity. Mother Caspari said that all
of her life was tied together by a golden thread. She said her
life story would be called The Golden Thread, reminiscent
of the words of the Buddha Maitreya
“With
a sense of the completeness of divinity, I wish to tell you tonight
that there is a golden thread, woven through every circumstance
in your lives which is not always apparent because it is interwoven
between other threads and it seems to disappear for a moment from
your view. But nevertheless, that golden thread of perfection
is ever present with each of you, and it assists you in finding—if
you will pursue it—the way back Home, the way back to the
victory, the glory, the purity and the power of the Cosmic Christ
and of the Buddha.”
Love
is the Key
Mother Caspari's mission is summed up in her
favorite saying, LOVE IS THE KEY! I pray that we can live up to
her legacy and follow her example of gentle radiance, humility,
patience, compassion, determination and joy.
Parlez
moi d’amour,
Redites moi des choses tendres
Votre beau discours,
Mon coeur n’est pas las de l’entendre
Pourvu que toujours
Vous repetiez ces mots supremes
Je vous aime.
